La Presa Vineyard, Santa Ynez Valley

2012 Grenache

The mid and Eastern part of the Santa Ynez Valley is warmer than our Santa Rita Hills AVA at the western tip of the Santa Ynez Valley and this wine reflects the area in which it is grown.

Less affected by the early morning fog and generally 10 to 12 degrees warmer it often produces a richer darker wine.

Winemaker's comment: The La Presa Grenache became available in 2012. We took the opportunity to try a different expression of Grenache from our own cooler Santa Rita Hills.

La Presa is located in mid valley, East of Solvang. Very aromatic and perfumed with bright red fruits, we felt the wine merited being bottled on its own as a vineyard designate.
